What kind of restaurant is this?
We’re a specialty izakaya famous for our juicy boiled gyoza. We have the most Google reviews of any restaurant in Tokyo and the most Tripadvisor reviews of any restaurant in Japan. We’re also known for our friendly, smiling staff and fun, lively atmosphere.
*Based on our own research of restaurants in Tokyo listed on Google Maps (as of August 2026)
How does pricing work? Are there any additional charges?
From 3:00 p.m., a service charge of 330 yen (tax included) per person applies. There is no service charge during lunchtime (until 3:00 p.m.). We abolished our late-night surcharge on August 13, 2026, so prices at night are the same as during the day. A 10% surcharge applies only on December 31 and January 1. There are no other additional charges. We never charge different prices based on a customer’s nationality (no dual pricing).
Do you have spicy dishes? Can I still enjoy the food if I don’t like spicy food?
Yes. We do serve spicy dishes, such as our Hot Pot Gyopao. However, most of our menu — including our signature juicy boiled dumplings, Gyopao — is not spicy. If you prefer non-spicy food, just let our staff know when ordering, and we’ll be happy to recommend suitable dishes.
What do you recommend on the menu?
Our signature juicy boiled dumplings, Gyopao, the three-kind shumai platter, Taiwanese fried chicken, xiaolongbao, and Taiwanese mazesoba are some of our most popular dishes. For drinks, don’t miss The Premium Malt’s draft beer — we’re a Suntory-certified Cho-Tatsujin (Master) venue for it. If you’re not sure what to order, just ask our staff; we’ll be happy to recommend our most popular dishes and drinks.
How many people can you accommodate? What kind of seating do you have?
We have 55 seats in total (18 on the 1st floor and 37 on the 2nd floor). Most of our seating is at tables, with a few counter seats on the 1st floor. Please note that all of our seats are stools without backrests. We also accept reservations for larger groups and private parties from 10 guests.
Can I book the whole restaurant for a private party?
Yes! We offer private bookings for groups of 10 guests or more. The 2nd floor can accommodate up to 40 guests, and the entire restaurant can accommodate up to 60 seated guests. For more details, please visit our private party page: https://gyopao.com/yoyaku/kashikiri.html
You have nearly 20,000 Google reviews. How did you gather so many?
We ask our guests, at an appropriate moment, to share their honest feedback. In line with Google’s guidelines, we never offer discounts, free items, or any other reward to guests who post a review, and our staff have no quotas or incentives tied to review counts. We read every review as feedback for improvement. As a rule we reply to every review. In our most recent 1,000 reviews, half of our replies were posted within 11.4 hours (as of August 2026). Critical comments included, reviews are shared through our internal system and at the next morning’s staff meeting, and are reflected in how we improve our service and operations.
Do I need to register a credit card to make a reservation?
For parties of 5 or more, we ask you to register a credit card for all plans.
We do not charge that card for your bill. You pay at the restaurant when you visit.
A cancellation fee may apply in cases such as not showing up without notice.
The cancellation policy is stated on the booking site.
Q. I have a food allergy. Can you accommodate me?
We have a page listing the allergens for all 31 items. Please check it before your visit: https://gyopao.com/en/gyopaoinfo-en/allergen.html
All dishes are prepared in the same kitchen, so we cannot completely prevent trace cross-contamination. If you have a severe allergy, please tell our staff when you arrive.
